Intended to ground and balance the viewer. Loosely based on a favorite Russian picture book of the artist’s, the deep greens and browns in the piece create a sense of warmth and comfort. Within the winter scene dwell woodland creatures and pine and birch trees, evoking an earthiness that touches the senses. The center of the painting salutes Gaia, calling for the unification of all things living and the need to take care of the planet we live on.
