Sarah Deutser’s paintings explore the nuances of the mandala, a cosmic and geometric diagram that links us to the infinite. Within each of her works is a world that extends both beyond and within the boundaries of ordinary life. Each painting speaks in its own voice, ranging from soft-hued oceans, to earthy forests, to celestial skies.
Born in Los Angeles, and raised in the art community of Ojai, California, Sarah comes from a long line of artists, namely, her father, Frank Kirk, and her aunt, Jane Gottlieb. She currently lives in Houston, Texas, where she also teaches yoga, writes poetry, and studies energetics. She and her husband, Steven, have three children, two dogs, two birds, a turtle, and a guinea pig. It is here, amongst the chaos, that she finds freedom and peace within the structure of the mandala.
