Oil on canvas, 18″x18″
An exploration of ancient and modern-day symbology in which the symbols carry the viewer through time and space, creating a strong sense of recognition and personal experience. The center of the painting exhibits two doves in mirror images of one another, each seeing only love in its own reflection. Next, the Jain hand (a version of the Hamsa) is a symbol of nonviolence in the gesture of the abhaya, or “no fear” mudra. Beyond, the Star of David and the Cross of Christ are symbols of Judaism and Christianity, respectively. The dark purple suns and light blue moons are nods to Paganism and the Islamic faith, extending awareness and appreciation to all cultures worldwide.
